Maggie and Jake - {I do}
When Maggie told me she and Jake had decided to hold their wedding on her family's property along the Green River, I could not contain my excitement. My imagination began to run wild with all the beautiful possibilities that come along with an outdoor wedding that is held in a location that has special meaning for the bride and groom.
Maggie did not disappoint. Every detail, every sign, flower and centerpiece accentuated the beauty in that piece of property. From the moment we arrived until the minute we left we could feel the meaning of that special place for Maggie and Jake. Surrounded by family and friends, they said their vows in one of the most picturesque and serene places in the Pacific Northwest.
The legacy of marriage that has been left for them by their parents and grandparents was so moving for both Mike and me. One of the biggest reasons we love being wedding photographers is that we hope to show that marriage gets better with age - that you don't have to become victims of the cultural norm which tells us that being committed to the same person for the rest of your life is boring and antiquated ... even impossible. By God's grace, we hope to show that marriage can be life giving and is one of the greatest adventures life has to offer. Seeing this mentality demonstrated by couples married many more years than us - to see them laugh and rejoice together - that is what thrills us about being wedding photographers. Watching Jake and Maggie's parents evidence that lifelong commitment throughout the day was nothing less than thrilling. What a blessing it was for us to be there to witness the beginning of Jake and Maggie's great adventure!
