Amy & Dan - Married!

At the end of last year, as a personal project, I did some promotional pictures for some friends who were headed to Russia on a mission trip. They were planning a series of hip-hop concerts and Mike and I knew we wanted to participate, even if it was from a distance. It was fun to do their pictures, and while I realized band photography isn't really my thing, it was super cool to see the posters they made using one of the pictures I took.

Not long after they returned from Russia, Dan proposed to Amy and when I learned Josh Newton was going to be their wedding photographer I worked up my courage and sent him an email asking if I'd be able to come along on the wedding day as an assistant. It is important to us to continue to grow as photographers and we want to expose ourselves to as many shooting styles and business practices as possible. Simply being able to observe photographers with more experience is an incredible opportunity. I nearly cried when Josh emailed back and said that he didn't need an assistant, but that I was welcome to tag along and bring my camera so I could build my portfolio. I had been hopeful that he may allow me to carry his coffee for him but it had never really crossed my mind that he would actually let me shoot with him. Mike and I were ecstatic about this very awesome opportunity.
The night before the wedding, over a chocolate chip calzone at ClaimJumper (*eat one. It will change your life.), Josh talked with Mike and me about life, photography and running a business. It was awesome how God used Josh to speak to me and Mike about the exact things we'd been discussing between ourselves. Beyond business, he was able to encourage us in life and in finding the greater purpose God has for us. People like Josh are few and far between and we count it a huge blessing to have met him.
Amy and Dan's wedding was simply fantastic. From the getting ready at the Grand Hyatt in downtown Seattle to the insanity of the first look at a very crowded Pike Place Market to the hip hop recessional to the ice cream sundae reception, no detail was overlooked. It was truly an honor and pleasure to be there to see them say their vows.
Congratulations Amy and Dan! Marriage is the most fun adventure life can take you on and I know you two are going to enjoy the ride!!

So wonderful to hear the inside story of your experience! Tracy was on that trip to Russia and the next year I met with Dan and picked up several of their newly released CDs to take to Russia on our 2012 trip. Dan prayed with Stephanie and I and even donated several CDs to take and give out!

We were at the wedding and it was the perfect Dan and Amy wedding because you could see the love radiating from them for each other and from the people present to them!

Your pictures capture a lot of the Love!
